The Receptionist, Academy
Training & Professional Development
Professional Training That Actually Takes This Job Seriously
Professional training for receptionists and front office professionals at every experience level, preparing them for Guild certification. Most programs teach phone etiquette and scheduling. We start before that, with what it means to be a professional employee, how to build a professional identity, and the parts of the job other programs are too uncomfortable to address. From there, we build upward through communication, office operations, security standards, executive support, and crisis management. No other training program takes the receptionist profession this seriously, this completely, or this honestly.
What Makes This Different
Most training programs that exist for receptionists teach surface level skills: phone etiquette, scheduling, basic software.
The Receptionist, Academy goes fundamentally deeper. Before any technical skill, we teach what it means to be a professional employee: how to show up, how to conduct yourself, how to build a professional identity from the ground up. We address topics other programs are too uncomfortable to include: workplace gossip, professional boundaries, workplace romance, personal hygiene, digital conduct, time theft, and what it means to take genuine pride in a role the world has consistently undervalued.
From that foundation, training builds through communication, first impressions, office operations, security standards, executive support, crisis management, and leadership development.

Two Paths to Qualify for Guild Certification

After the Academy
Academy completion prepares you for certification through The Receptionist, Guild — the professional membership association that administers certification, sets employer standards, and advocates for the profession. Certification is not automatic upon finishing training; it’s earned by passing the Guild’s certification exam.
Certified Guild members gain a real, verifiable credential, eligibility for placement through The Receptionist, Agency, and access to a professional community built specifically for this profession.
